Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, M.S., visited the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) office for East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province on Monday, September 14, 2026, accompanied by the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, S.Si., Apt.
During the visit, the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas likened BPS to a "development meter" for a region. This analogy signifies that—much like an electricity meter—accurate, high-quality data from BPS is essential for measuring the effectiveness and direction of ongoing development policies.
In response, Melki Laka Lena emphasized the local government's commitment to making valid data the primary foundation for policymaking. The availability of clear indicators derived from BPS data ensures that every strategic local government program can be formulated with precision, thereby accelerating the well-being of the people of NTT.
During the meeting, the Head of BPS NTT Province, Matamira B. Kale, S.Si., M.Si., presented various development indicators, ranging from economic growth, inflation, and economic structure to agriculture, education, the manufacturing industry, and poverty rates. Through this strong synergy between the central and local governments, it is hoped that future development planning in the East Nusa Tenggara region will increasingly rely on data (evidence-based policy) to achieve accountable governance focused on tangible results for the community.
In addition to discussing regional development planning in NTT, the two officials inspected public service delivery via the Integrated Statistical Services unit at BPS NTT Province. The Minister of PPN continues to commend government agencies for providing excellent public service through continuous improvement.
